At Nara Kenya, our mission is to provide refugees host-community villages with everything from start-up capital, resources, and supply-chain support so that they can engage in the agricultural trade through vertical integration and ownership. Through this vertical integration, NARA and its partners are able to provide farmers, communities, and local supply-chain partners with the best price and control.

Each acre produces a huge amount of vegetables, grasses (fodder), and tree biomass that is used for livestock fodder. By layering these crops together, we can maximise space and regularly produce over 1,000 kg per acre each week!
The vegetable crops are sold to local and regional markets, while fodder crops are harvested and processed at our feed manufacturing facility and sold through regional retail agro-vets and direct-to-consumers.

Each village we work with provides 100 acres for the project, which the village's social enterprise owns and manages. NARA never owns community land or employs people directly. Instead, NARA provides upfront capital and non-repayable loans, and engages in a revenue-share agreement. Importantly, NARA creates the supply-chain for the crops and credits.
By focusing on decentralised units, it de-risks the wider project and ensures better transparency and accountability on a village-level, avoiding conflicts around land tenure.
